The Challenge

Brand Overview

Make an unfamiliar wellness ritual feel impossible to ignore.

When CONTRAST launched, contrast therapy was still a relatively new concept for the Dubai mass market. The ask was simple: Get us more bookings.

But for us It was:

Build awareness → explain the experience → make it aspirational → drive the first visit.

The category also had a credibility problem. Consumers could see an ice bath or infrared therapy and think:

"Why would I voluntarily do that?"

So the creative challenge became turning heat + cold + recovery from an unfamiliar treatment into something people wanted to experience.

OUR SERVICES

Strategy

  • Turn "Why would I do that?" into "I need to try that." The strategy was to make contrast therapy feel relevant, desirable and easy to understand for Dubai's wellness-curious audience.

We built the communication around one simple journey:

    Awareness → Education → Desire → Action

    01. MAKE IT RELEVANT

Your strategic thought is specifically about the Dubai tension: extreme heat, high-energy lifestyles and the appetite for premium wellness.

So the creative should make CONTRAST feel like something that belongs in Dubai, rather than generic wellness content.

    Creative territories:

    Dubai Heat

    • "Dubai is 45°C. So obviously we're getting into an ice bath."

    • "The only way to beat Dubai heat that involves getting colder."

    • "When it's 45°C outside and you voluntarily choose 8°C."

    Dubai Lifestyle

    • "Your Dubai reset just got colder."

    • "For the people whose weekend plans involve Pilates, brunch and an ice bath."

    • "Dubai's newest wellness ritual."

    Premium Wellness

    • "Your new favourite wellness ritual in Dubai."

    • "Wellness, but make it an experience."

    • "What happens when recovery becomes part of your lifestyle?"

    02. MAKE IT UNDERSTANDABLE

Take the “wait… what exactly is this?” out of contrast therapy.

    • “Okay, but WHY are people sitting in ice?”

    • “You want me to go from THIS temperature to WHAT?”

    • “So you’re telling me I pay money to be cold?”  WINNING HOOK

    • “Ice bath virgin? Start here.”

    • “What actually happens when you go from sauna to ice?”

    • “Is this wellness or just voluntary suffering?”

    • “Your first contrast session, without the mystery.”

    03. MAKE IT DESIRABLE

We Stopped selling the ice/wellness. And started selling how you feel afterwards.

    • “Came for the ice. Stayed for the post-session high.”

    • “The 45 minutes that somehow made my whole week better.”

    • “Me before CONTRAST vs me after CONTRAST.”

    • “When your brain has 37 tabs open and you finally hit refresh.”

    • “My new favourite way to reset.”

    • “POV: you just remembered what feeling refreshed feels like.”

    • “The kind of tired you actually want to feel.”

    • “Self-care, but make it slightly unhinged.”

    • “Would I voluntarily do this again? Unfortunately, yes.” WINNING HOOK

    04. MAKE IT ACTIONABLE
Use creators, social proof, strong CTAs and experience-led content to move audiences from curiosity to website visits and first-time bookings.

The result was a creative strategy that didn't just explain a new wellness category. It gave people a reason to want in.

  • We built content around four pillars:

    01. EDUCATE

Make the weird stuff make sense.

Contrast therapy was still relatively unfamiliar, so education couldn't feel like a science lecture. The job was to answer the questions people were already asking, remove the intimidation factor and make the first session feel less like “what have I signed up for?” and more like “okay, I get it.”

    Content series:

    “Okay, But Why?”
Simple, entertaining explainers that unpack the why behind contrast therapy.

    • “Okay, but WHY are we voluntarily sitting in ice?”

    • “What actually happens when you go from sauna to ice?”

    • “So... is this recovery or just expensive suffering?”

    • “You’ve seen the ice baths. Here’s what they’re actually about.”

    “First Timer Files”

Take viewers through the experience before they ever step inside.

    • “Never done an ice bath? Come panic with me.”

    • “Your first CONTRAST session, from start to finish.”

    • “Things I wish someone told me before getting in.”

    • “What I thought an ice bath would be like vs. reality.”

The rule: Educate without looking educational. Lead with curiosity, reaction or humour, then give people the answer.

    02. EXPERIENCE

Don't tell people what CONTRAST feels like. Make them feel it.

The content needed to move beyond explaining the treatment and capture the actual sensory experience: the heat, the cold, the anticipation, the adrenaline and that “why do I suddenly feel so good?” moment afterwards.

    Content series:

“POV: You Said You’d Try It”
First-person, reaction-led content that makes the viewer feel like they're in the room.

    • “POV: your friend said ‘it’ll be fun’ and now you’re here.”

    03. SOCIAL PROOF

We didn’t just pick a bunch of creators and ask them to talk about ice baths.

We built the creator mix around different reasons someone might actually walk through the door. Athletes brought the credibility of performance and recovery, wellness creators made CONTRAST feel like a ritual worth adding to your routine, first-timers made the experience feel approachable (and a lot less intimidating), while Dubai-based creators gave the brand that all-important local relevance.

The result was a creator ecosystem where each person had a different job to do, but every story still led back to the same brand experience.

    04. BENEFITS

The strategic shift was from selling contrast therapy as a treatment to positioning it as something people genuinely want to build into their lives: a reset, a ritual, a recovery moment or simply an experience worth trying.

    Content mix

    35% Experience
    25% Education
    25% Creator / UGC
    15% Promotional

  • Instead of relying exclusively on polished brand content, we introduced creators as proof of experience.

The Brand

Brand Overview

Launched in 2022, the brand brought contrast therapy, infrared sauna, ice baths and recovery treatments into a premium, highly Instagrammable wellness experience. Today, CONTRAST operates across Palm Jumeirah, City Walk, Creek Harbour and JVC, with services spanning sauna, ice bath, red light therapy, massage and compression therapy.

The timing was interesting. Dubai was moving wellness from an occasional spa treatment into a lifestyle category, but contrast therapy was still unfamiliar to the mainstream consumer. CONTRAST therefore had to do more than sell sessions. It had to teach Dubai what the hell an ice bath was, make it desirable, and get people through the door.
